The 9 Juliet program was developed in 2006, when Dr. Nancy Conley observed many young people she counseled in her practice were suffering from an addiction to technology.

Dr. Conley's solution was a program that re-introduces participants to real life and takes them into the beautiful mountains and lakes of one of our two locations - Northern Idaho or Shasta Lake, California. Our newest program, for boys, will be begin in Spring 2010 in Lake Chelan, Washington. The participants learn to rely on themselves and others, and experience life without the trappings of technology. To contact us about the program, please click here.

Participants get to enjoy time on a ropes course, camping, wilderness hikes and campfires, as well as counseling time to determine the root of their addiction to technology and how they can prevent themselves from relying on it as a crutch. They will return with a renewed sense of self and an appreciation for the world around them.

Participants in the program learn to rely on each other during events at a local ropes course. There is no reliance on technology out here - our program members get exercise, and gain an appreciation for doing things outside the home.
Technology overuse can often lead to isolation. Our program participants end up bonding strongly with each other. Lifelong friendships are often formed in our program. From adventure video games to actual adventures - the 9 Juliet program will open participant's eyes to many fun and exciting activities.

If your teen is struggling with an addiction to technology, we can help. From an addiction to video games to excessive use of text messaging to a lack of interaction with their peers due to the use of the internet, we can help your child overcoming these limitations and enjoy life to the fullest.

Currently the 9 Juliet program is restricted to young women, but we are in the process of developing a program for boys aged 13 to 18 which will begin in Spring 2010 with our new associate, Dr. Sunar. Stay tuned for more information on this new project.
